Franciscan Friars of the Renewal conclude eight years of service in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH -- After eight years of dedicated service to the homeless on the East Side of Fort Worth, the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal closed their Sacred Heart of Jesus Friary doors at the end of May and ventured to new areas to continue their mission. 


New priests' devotion to sharing the Good News is apparent to family, friends

They say the best gifts come in little boxes. For Mike McKinney, his ordination gift to Keith Hathaway was the box itself. The retired Air Force officer and woodworker was asked to create a vessel worthy of the antique chalice Debbie and Rob Hathaway purchased for their son, who was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Fort Worth along with Michael Greco and Ronald Mercado on May 23 in St. Patrick Cathedral.


From medical technologist to priesthood

Holding the hand of an elderly patient at Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon in the far western reaches of the diocese gave Father Ronaldo Mercado his first nudge toward the priesthood. The medical technologist’s warm, friendly smile and easy-going manner made him a favorite with the nursing staff and the people they treated.
