John Lopez knows the difference a little faith and fellowship can make in the life of a young person. Growing up in Orange County in California, he experienced neither. “I didn’t grow up in the Church at all,” admits the new academic dean and campus minister at Cassata High School. “I was baptized Catholic, but that was the extent of my involvement with the faith.”
Members of St. Mary the Virgin Church gathered Aug. 29 to celebrate a milestone in the life of the former Anglican parish. Father Thomas Kennedy became the first priest ordained to the Catholic priesthood at the Arlington parish since it transferred from the Diocese of Fort Worth into the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter on July 1.
