Christ the King is returning

“He will sit upon his glorious throne,” Jesus says to his disciples in Matthew 25:31-46. Here presented before us is Jesus, with the angels gathered around Him and all the nations assembled before Him. Here He sits in majesty.


Your children are racehorses, not Legos

Having all the kids around reminds me of a basic fact: Families blend very different people. That’s something we know in theory, but it’s surprisingly hard to accept in real life.


Called to be children of God: Solemnity of All Saints

“See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God,” St. John writes in his first letter. Saints live deeply and purely this identity as children of God. This is the mission and the calling of the saints: to show the Father’s love and to be a witness to the invitation of the Father to become adopted children.  


The Lord hears the cry of the newborn

It's as loud as a fire alarm (except it goes off 20 times a day). It screeches like fingernails down a chalkboard. And rather than fleeing to escape it, we're supposed to run right toward it.


That I may gain Christ: Memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi

Saints, by their lives, recall and proclaim the beauty and wonder of God in their own particular way. In doing so they declare the mission of God who loved us so much He gave us Christ and through Him, all goodness and love.
