FORT WORTH — With several thousand American pilgrims attending World Youth Day celebrations July 26-31 in Krakow, Poland, the North Texas Catholic has gathered a list of web resources to help readers keep up with the coming whirlwind of World Youth Day activities.

Schedules of events, videos, history, programs, and other resources can be found via the official World Youth Day 2016 website: http://www.krakow2016.com/en/. Meanwhile, the Knights of Columbus’ Mercy Centre website also offers the above resources, along with information about the exhibits and relics the pilgrims will have opportunities to venerate. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Catholic Apostolate Center collaborated to provide digital content such as interviews with bishops, exclusive videos, blogs, and more at www.wyd2016.us.

Livestreaming of World Youth Day events and Facebook Live updates can be found on www.wydusa.org.

You can also check back here on the North Texas Catholic WYD page to get the latest on our pilgrims’ visit to Poland and the surrounding areas. All week we will be posting daily Catholic News Service stories and photos, along with blog posts from a team of pilgrims from our diocese!

The more than 200 pilgrims from the Diocese of Fort Worth will also be using the Twitter hashtag #fwwyd to share photos, videos, and Tweets from their two-week adventure, which took them through Rome, Prague, and Assisi before arriving in Poland this week.

According to an advisory by the USCCB’s Office of Public Affairs, more than 40,000 Americans are registered to attend World Youth Day in Krakow this week. It is the largest delegation of U.S. pilgrims participating in a WYD outside the U.S. and the third largest U.S. delegation ever, only behind WYD 1993 in Colorado and WYD 2002 in Toronto.

Most of the attendees are young adults between 18 and 30, the release said.

In addition, 85 U.S. bishops are also attending. Thirteen of them have been selected as catechists during the many catechesis sessions and panel discussions held during the week.

The USCCB Secretariat of Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth helped line up two major events for U.S. Pilgrims. The U.S. National Gathering and Prayer Experience will be held at Tauron Arena in Krakow on July 27. The U.S. National Mass for Pilgrims will be held on the morning of July 30, also at Tauron Arena.
